Hunger in San Diego and Imperial Counties Persists
Current studies in San Diego and Imperial Counties show that 1 in 4 children are food insecure. Though we
dedicate many individual and unit hours to serve the needs of hungry children and families through the
Scouting for Food Service Project each year, we know that much more effort is needed to bring relief to our

Scouting For Food is the leading service program for Boy Scouts of America and part of the national BSA
program, Good Turn for America. Our local council is teaming once again with Feeding America San
Diego in the effort to collect more than 50,000 pounds of food for local agencies during the month of
Your Personal Involvement Is Important
Whether you are a unit leader, individual scout or community member wanting to participate in this
important campaign, we welcome your support. Follow these easy steps to get involved:
Add Scouting For Food, 2014 to your unit or personal activity calendar for the month of
Review and use the following Scouting For Food Resources
Feeding America San Diego website to
schedule a unit or individual volunteer activity at the FASD warehouse to see how donations are used.
Scouts of all ages and adults are encouraged to volunteer.
Order Scouting For Food 2014 Door Hangers which may be used to canvas whole neighborhoods. These
will be available at district Roundtables in January and February 2014 or you may retrieve them at the
Council Service Center.
Before you start,
Register your unit to participate in the campaign. Individuals may also register their
participation. Once you collect the food,
Report your participation. All participating scouts will receive a patch designed specifically for
Scouting For Food 2014.
