The San Diego-Imperial Council of Boy Scouts of America announced that they will hold their 30th Annual Pro-Amateur Invitational Golf Tournament on Monday, May 14th at the Pauma Valley Country Club. The tournament to benefit the more than 22,000 youth enrolled in local area scouting is one of few “outside event” held each year at the golf course.

Pauma Valley Country Club, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, is home to the scenic and challenging Robert Trent Jones golf course. Built in the 1960’s, PVCCs course was often played by golf legends such as Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. Pauma is no stranger to celebrity. In the early 1940’s actor John Wayne even built a home along what is now land adjacent to the18th fairway.

This unique BSA tournament pairs foursomes with a PGA professional from other exclusive clubs to play the entire course. Past PGA professionals supporting the tournament have included those from other prestigious clubs such as the Wilshire Country Club, The Grand Golf Club, San Diego Country Club and more. Pauma Valley Country Club PGA Pro, Chad Pettit, coordinates the pros attending the event. Additional committee members include adult volunteer golf merit badge counselors, businessperson, other PGA Professionals and staff and board members.

Sponsorships of the event are still available. For more information on sponsorship or to register to play in the tournament call Lori Butler at BSA San Diego Imperial Council at 619.298.6121 x251.
