Youth Protection Guidelines and Hazardous Weather Training Required for Approval of Tour Permits
Council approval for a Local or National Tour Permit requires that one of the two required adult leaders, though not necessarily the same adult leader, accompanying the unit on any outing and listed on the Tour Permit, be trained in:
- Youth Protection Guidelines
- Hazardous Weather
Verification of training in Youth Protection Guidelines may be furnished by presentation of the training completion card. Verification of training in Hazardous Weather may be furnished by presentation of the Weather Smart Certificate of Completion. Either can also be verified by checking the computer-generated listing maintained by the Service Center.
Note 1: From the National Council training site: "BUG ALERT: A number of users have reported that they are unable to create accounts for the e-learning system using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.0 (the very latest version) because an image is superimposed over text fields, preventing them from entering data. We are currently working on a newer version of the account creation/management interface that will not have this problem. In the meantime, these users may be able to complete the form if they use their "tab" key to navigate among text fields. Otherwise, they will need to use a different Web browser (Netscape, FireFox, or even an older version of IE) to create an account."
