Long-Range Master Plan
Adopted November 2005

Vision

Our vision is for the Mataguay Scout Ranch to be recognized as a premiere Boy Scout camp, delivering the promise of outdoor adventure and learning to the youth, leaders and families we serve. We will create an enriching, rustic and aesthetically pleasing facility that will serve youth for generations to come, utilizing Mataguay's unique natural environment and enhancing the land's Native American and ranch history.

Mission

The mission of the Mataguay Scout Ranch is to provide extraordinary support to our council, zone and unit leadership, creating a camp environment that promotes a strong advancement program and exceptional outdoor opportunities resulting in quality programs for youth. Mataguay's leaders will do this in partnership with volunteer and community leaders, guided by a master plan based on national B.S.A. program standards and best methods. It will:

  • Focus our energies and resources on first-class programs and facilities that will help build strong Scout units.
  • Grow and improve camp resources to help meet the council's goal of 40,000 youth by 2010.
  • Enhance and preserve the natural environment, promoting Scouting,s principals of environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Master Plan Summary

The Master Plan that follows will create a very special camp that inspires both youth and leaders for generations to come.

It includes not only new facilities and an improved camp infrastructure, but more importantly it creates new programs and learning centers that will excite Scouts and invite them to return to the Ranch again and again. These include:

Details of the New Mataguay Master Plan

To help identify and define the unique areas of the Ranch and maximize the use of the property when planning improvements and enhancements, the task force divided Mataguay into four functional areas … Parker Scout Camp, the Ranchlands, Pardee Outpost Camp, and the Backcountry.

This master plan addresses both camp-wide initiatives like conservation and trails, as well as specific improvements, changes and enhancements to each of these functional areas. For details of the improvements to both the facilities and the land, click on the links below:
