A number of organizations support Scouting in the greater San Diego-Imperial County Region.
Junior
Achievement San Diego – JA offers the Personal Management Merit Badge via the JA for Everyone program.
JA for Everyone is a personal budgeting simulation designed to help participants understand the link
between lifestyle, education, career, and the management of personal finances in an interactive
environment.
Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum - Every year,
the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association welcomes troops from the
Boy Scouts of America to provide youth with the knowledge and
skills required to obtain a
Railroading Merit
Badge. Since their first official visit in 1997, thousands of Scouts have camped at the Pacific
Southwest Railway Museum (PSRM) in Campo to learn what it is really like to work on the railroad.
San Diego Food Bank - Help local Scouts collect much-needed food items
for the San Diego Food Bank by leaving unopened food donations by your door and/or mailbox during the
month of March. SDIC Scout units will be visiting neighborhoods across San Diego County encouraging
residents to donate food to local families in need.
San Diego LabRats - Their STEAM Mobile Lab
can deliver any of over 100+ hands-on lessons directly to your Scout unit. They provide fun and empowering
STEM education including a number of the STEM merit badges to demonstrate important concepts.
San Diego Maritime Museum- This museum offers a
variety of dockside and sailing programs for Scouting and other youth organizations. While some programs
may be designed for specific Scouting requirements, all programs can be tailored to your schedule and age
group.
Scout Night with San Diego Padres
- The Padres are inviting all Scouts and their families to Petco Park for a fun-filled afternoon that
would include game tickets and a special event souvenir.
USS Midway
Museum - This famous museum has programs touch all of the required milestones in the BSA Manual as the
Scouts earn their merit badges in Aviation, Radio, First Aid, or Weather. A very popular activity for
Scouts: spending the night on the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Walking in the
footsteps of a true Midway Sailor, sleeping in authentic Navy bunks, dining in the galley, and much
more.
