W6-49-21 Troop Guide,

Dr. Brandon Zeidler is life-long Scouter and a native San Diegan. He earned the Arrow of Light from Pack 616 the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 616, both in Scripps Ranch. He continued his Scouting adventures as long as possible during his summers off in college, as a founding member of an Explorer Post comprised of fellow Troop 616 Eagles.

His Scouting experiences backpacking at Philmont, the High Sierras and Havasu Canyon, mountain biking in Utah, canoeing and rafting down the Colorado River and attending BSA summer camps throughout California instilled a passion for outdoor adventure, which he shares with the rest of his family whether they like it or not. Brandon suspects they secretly enjoy the challenge and personal growth of the experiences in the same way he did as a Scout, and considers their willingness to continue following him on adventures, even after that one hike in Hawaii (where we were all rescued by firefighters), as undeniable proof!

Brandon’s life, education and career are best summarized by the words he wrote twenty-five years ago in his Eagle Scout application. He said that his life’s ambition was to earn a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, “direct research of new technologies that will benefit society by utilizing leadership and understanding of long-term goals”, and to “settle down, raise a family, and be an active, involved parent”. He further wrote that “if I have any sons, I will urge them into Scouting, and return to Scouting all of the great experiences it has given me by becoming an adult leader.” Both then and now, he credits the leadership skills and personal growth developed through Scouting as the key to successfully realizing that vision.

Brandon and his tremendously understanding and supportive wife have been blessed with two incredible sons that have enjoyed all the Cub Scouting program has to offer. Having achieved the life ambition he outlined as a life Scout, Brandon is honored to have the opportunity to kindle a passion for Scouting in the next generation of leaders, joining with other volunteers to be part of their Scouting journey.
