W6-49-21 Assistant Quartermaster, Carmen Myers

Carmen currently serves as an assistant advisor for Crew 4373, and serves Foothills Zone as a Unit Commissioner. Carmen is very active in the Order of the Arrow. She serves as an Advisor on the Lodge committee, an assistant advisor for OA Chapter Shash-Tsoh and on the Lodge cook crew. Carmen became a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow in 2021. Carmen is also a Merit Badge Counselor and an Eagle Project Counselor.

Carmen became involved in Scouting as a Webelos mom 14 years ago when her son, Joshua, decided he wanted to join Scouting. Joshua crossed over in 2007 to Troop 399 and Carmen became involved as committee treasurer, later becoming Committee Chair for 8 years, and Served as an Assistant Scout Master for 2 years. When Carmen joined the Troop, it was only a year old at the time and she could see the struggles in getting the program to the youth due to lack of training among the adult leaders. Carmen decided that Wood Badge would be a helpful tool to understanding Scouting. She attended Course WE4-49-09. The rest, as they say, is history. Placed in the Owl Patrol, Wood Badge opened Carmen’s eyes to Scouting and she’s never looked back.

Some of the highlights of Carmen’s years in Scouting include 5 years serving on National Youth Leadership Training courses including a term as an NYLT Course Director. This year is her third-year staffing Wood Badge. Carmen attended the Philmont Leadership Challenge in 2016. Carmen has received the District Award of Merit and is a Silver Beaver recipient.

Carmen is committed to the Scouting program and knows that proper training is the key to delivering a quality program. Joshua, Carmen’s son, became Troop 399’s first Eagle Scout and had also earned 2 Silver Palms.

When Carmen isn’t Scouting, wait, what??? There is non-scouting time? Carmen is the Quality Director for a supplement manufacturing company in San Diego. Carmen celebrated 26 years of marriage this year with her husband Jeff. She is the proud mom of two boys, Joshua (Eagle Scout with 2 Silver Palms) and a step-son Spencer.
