Requirements

Each Scouter who participates in Wood Badge Training must be a registered adult leader or Venture Scout at least 18 years of age. In addition, the following training must be completed prior to the course. Because of the advanced nature of Wood Badge training, these requirements may not be waived.

  • Have current Youth Protection Training
  • Have completed the Basic Leader Specific Training for your Scouting Position. "Be Trained"
  • Have completed the Outdoor Skills Training program appropriate to your position.
    • Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters need to complete Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills.
    • Venturing Leaders need to complete Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills.
    • Cub Leaders need to complete Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)
  • Be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor camping environment.
  • Provide a copy of a current BSA medical form, parts A, B, and C, Valid through May 2021.
